Hello everyone! This post will show you how to make a heart garland using wool (or yarn – if you call it that!)
You will need:
- Cookie cutters of any shape (or a template)
- Masking tape
- A pair of scissors
- A pencil
Start by drawing around your cookie cutter shapes onto cardboard. I used a smaller heart and a bigger heart to get a variety.
Next cut out your shapes.
Then, I decided to draw a smaller heart 1cm inside the larger one for another variation, this is totally optional though.
Cut out the smaller middle heart.
Then you want to start wrapping your wool around the hearts.
Take the end of the wool and use masking tape to secure it in place.
Then start wrapping.
Wrap in all directions until your happy with the size, shape and coverage.
Add a loop to your heart for it to hang using a small length of wool and tying a knot in the end.
Now it’s time to assemble your garland.
Start by making a loop in the end of your string and tie a secure knot.
Then start adding your hearts to the string.
To attach them in a set place, loop the string around the heart loop to form a knot.
Ta Da! A beautiful heart garland.
This DIY was super easy to make but it was a little time consuming. I wrapped the wool around the cardboard whilst watching old episodes of The Walking Dead, so stick on a movie or TV show and get wrapping!
